OriginsEdit

Friends was a popular American sitcom that ran from 1994 till 2004. It starred six friends, Monica Geller (Courtney Cox), her brother Ross (David Schwimmer), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Joey Tribiani (Matt LeBlanc), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) and Rachel Green (Jennifer Anniston). A seventh 'friend' was added in season 9, a love interest and eventual husband to Phoebe, Mike Hannigan (Paul Rudd).

The cultural impact of the show was, and is, phenomenal, and re-runs of the show still draw viewers. One location the characters were seen frequently at was the coffee shop 'Central Perk'. This sofa sat in the middle of the café and was a favorite spot of the group.

EffectsEdit

The sofa activates when two or more people sit at the same time. They will find it easier to bond with each other, and repeated use can forge lifelong friendships that can withstand almost any hurdle. Once they rise from the sofa, the probability of unlikely and humorous occurrences rise, leading to improbable but amusing situations.

Both effects seem strongest when the number of people are six, and equally as potent if six friends are already present and a seventh enters the group. It's unknown what would happen if a chef, a paleontologist, a statistical analyst, an actor, a masseuse and a fashionista were to sit together, but all agents agree the outcome would likely be comedy gold.

CollectionEdit

It was collected in 2011, when it, along with several other pieces of TV and movie memorabilia were auctioned off.
