Origin[]
During World War II, the US War Department hired famed scientist and inventor, Philo Farnsworth to work on two important projects. One project dealt with communication efforts behind enemy lines and the other project dealt with tricking the enemy into believing the army had more numbers then it actually had. These two projects would be called Project Mercury and Project Gemini respectively.
Out of Project Mercury, came the creation of the Farnsworth V9-1944 VAudio Device, a military grade version of his original "Farnsworth" built in 1927.
Usage[]
This military grade version of the "Farnsworth" works nearly identical to the Warehouse issued version, however there are notable differences.
This version of the Farnsworth sports a self destruct option that captured spies could activate or commanding officers could detonate and completely destroy the internal components rendering it useless. Philo boasted as well that it's completely impossible to reverse engineer when destroyed and also programmed it (if you didn't know what you were doing) to destroy itself if tampered with.
Also, when set to a certain frequency, it could pick up radio transmissions from enemy radio stations. It had the unintended effect of also picking up Warehouse 13 agents or regent transmissions without anyone at Warehouse 13 figuring it out.
Collection[]
It was Philo who notified Warehouse 13 of the breach of security and was confiscated by Buck Mandell on the 17th of February, 1944. Only two are know to exist; one is collected safely in Warehouse 13 but the other is considered lost.
