Eric Knudsen created the Slenderman, a thin, tall man with a blank and featureless face wearing a black suit. The Slenderman's background is a ghoul who often kidnaps children. Knudsen edited the creature into photos as part of a Photoshop contest on the Something Awful forums. On May 31st, 2014 in Waukesha, Wisconsin two twelve-year old girls lured a classmate of the same age and stabbed her nineteen times. They declared it was to appease the fictional deity Slenderman. After being stabbed, the victim crawled to the road and got the attention of a cyclist who called 9-1-1 for her. Although on the brink of death the victim made a full recovery. During the trial both girls pled not guilty by way of insanity. This was later dubbed the Slender Man Stabbing.
