Franziska Elisabet Ney (1833 - 1907) was a celebrated German-born sculptor. During her time in Europe she would paint and sculpt famous leaders such as Otto von Bismarck and King George V. Going against the wishes of her parents she became the first female sculpture student at the Munich Academy of Art. Along with the leaders she managed to sculpt one of the Brothers Grimm, Jacob. At 39, she immigrated to America she became a pioneer in the development of art. With more resources she was able to produce full sized marble figures. One of her most famous and widely replicated piece was a figure of Lady Macbeth.
