Origin[]
Crystal Cave is a cave located in Bermuda. It is a subterranean waterway that empties the waters of Harrington Sound into the Atlantic Ocean. It is known for its beauty owed to the many limestone stalactites and stalagmites that have formed within it.
The cave was discovered in 1905 by young schoolboys Edgar Hollis and Carl Gibbons when their cricket ball fell into a hole in the ground and they had to dig it back up. Soon after, the Wilkinson family who owned the property under which the cave resided learned of its existence, and it became a tourist attraction for the public two years later in 1907. In short time following its discovery, other connected caves nearby were also discovered and turned into more attractions.
Effects[]
When the cricket ball is stricken and collides with another object or surface, limestone crystallization will rapidly occur at the point of contact. If contact is maintained for long enough, the surface or object itself will begin to transmute into more limestone crystal; such altered limestone is denser than the original seed crystal, and is much more resistant to damage except for strong vibrations.
