Origin[]
Theodorus "Dorus" Rijkers (27 January 1847 – 19 April 1928) manned Dutch lifeboats in search for shipwrecked survivors. During near 30 years of absolute volunteerism, Rijkers rescued 487 people from the treacherous waters over 38 missions. He even saved 25 sailors single handedly before joining any lifeboat response teams, fully committed to the work. He was honored by King William III and given a commemorative medal, although he had to sell it and most of his possessions after retirement.
Effects[]
Turns the user’s skin completely repellent to water. It just flows away like spiraling drops on a leaf, even when cracked from dryness. Will form a thin protective barrier when submerged.
Walkers feel compelled to approach the nearest shoreline, whether oceanic or a landlocked lake. Areas known by locals as maritime graveyards for the unfavorable steering conditions. Always alert, the spring immediately into action when a craft wrecks itself on the coast or floaters need assistance returning to shore. Most times nothing of note happens other than wasted time waiting on an unknown instinct.
