OriginEdit

On the 12th day of December, nineteen hundred ten, Dorothy Arnold vanished never to be seen ever again. The young socialite just went out on a shopping spree the morning earlier, greeting plenty of familiar shop owners and friends. By nightfall, nobody knew where she was. Private Pinkerton agents and later the NYPD both proved fruitless. Sightings continued for years. Kidnapped, amnesia addled or simply run away with her lover were all thrown around by the papers. A shameful abortion or failed literary career have also been possible causes over her disappearance.

EffectsEdit

Whatever the true circumstances of Dorothy’s removal from society, the bonnet appears to have lapped in all the possible theories why she vanished. All the discord and turmoil that makes the wearer unhappy or even self-loathing removes their sorrow. By removing them. All their pity causes them to shrivel away into dust, leaving no traces besides the bonnet itself.
