Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features the adventures of a young boy, Charlie Bucket, inside the chocolate factory of eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka. Charlie is the only child of a poor family, seven people, who live in a house with only one bedroom. Once a year, on his birthday, Charlie gets one Wonka Bar, which he normally keeps for many months before eating. Although the factory still sent out candy Willy Wonka's factory had its gates closed for a decade. Suddenly it was announced that he would open his doors to five children and their parents. The contest included the trip and a lifetime supply of chocolate and to win one must find one of five golden tickets in the wrappers of his Wonka chocolate bars. The search is fast and furious. Each ticket find is a media sensation and the finder becomes a celebrity. The first four are discovered by the gluttonous Augustus Gloop, the spoiled Veruca Salt, gum-addicted Violet Beauregarde and the TV-obsessed Mike Teavee. One day Charlie finds a fifty-pence coin, since the story takes place in Britain, and uses the little money for a piece of candy where he discovers the final ticket. Since his parents cannot come with him he takes his Grandpa Joe and they enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the factory, also encountering Oompa Loompas. Oompa Loompas are small people from the land of Loompaland who work for Wonka for chocolate since they love the candy so much. One by one the other children are ejected from the factory in comical, mysterious and painful fashions. Gloop falls into the Chocolate River and is sucked up one of the pipes. Beauregarde turns into a blueberry after stealing and eating an experimental piece of gum. Salt is thrown out in the trash by nut-judging squirrels. Teavee shrinks himself into a tiny size. The children are seen leaving now thin, purple, covered in trash and ten feet tall respectfully. With only Charlie remaining Wonka congratulates him stating that the contest was because he was getting too old and needed a successor, Charlie won that honor. In the end they ride the great glass elevator to Charlie's house to bring his family back to the factory.
Effects[]
When opened will continuously pour chocolate from the pages, must be closed to stop but the longer it is open the harder it is to close. Despite the mess created the book remains pristine.
