Origin[]

Charles James Correll (1890 - 1972) was an American radio comedian, best known for his work on the Amos 'n' Andy show with Freeman F. Gosden. Correll voiced Andy as well as various supporting characters while Gosden played Amos and others. Amos 'n' Andy was a beloved radio show about a pair of friends who worked on a farm in Georgia with plans of a better life in Chicago. Naïve but honest Amos was hard working and after get married a dedicated family man. Blustering Andy was a dreamer with an overinflated self-confidence being the brains to Amos' brawn. Growing in its popularity the pair introduced more characters and more plot turning it from comedy to dramedy to just drama regardless it is thought upon fondly as a time before life got more complicated.
