Sir Banastre Tarleton, 1st Baronet, (21 August 1754 – 15 January 1833) was a British general and politician. He is best known as the lieutenant colonel leading the British Legion at the end of the American Revolution. During most of his service in North America, he led the British Legion, a provincial unit organized in New York in 1778.
At the Battle of Waxhaws on 29 May 1780, Tarleton's forces shot upon surrendering Virginia colonials, killing, capturing or wounding hundreds of soldiers. Reports state Tarleton’s horse was shot from under him, and his regiment attacked the Continentals out of vengeance. Patriots subsequently coined the term "Tarleton's quarter" to refer to the practice of giving no quarter during battles, though he had not ordered his men to attack the surrendering Patriots. He also attempted in February 1781 to capture the Virginia legislature and Governor Thomas Jefferson, who escaped beforehand. In July 1781 a skirmish, Francisco's Fight, took place between Peter Francisco and several of Tarleton's Raiders.
Tarleton introduced to the British Legion, and wore himself, a leather helmet with antique style applications and a fur plume (woollen for lower ranks) protruding far into the upper front side. It is depicted in Sir Joshua Reynolds' portrait of Tarleton above and was named after the officer. The helmet was used by British horse artillery troops until the end of the Napoleonic Wars as well as by light dragoon regiments from about 1796 to 1812.
It was one of the artifacts shipped on the HMS Avalon in the waning days of Warehouse 12 and captured by Roaring Dan Seavey. It remained missing until it was recovered by Artie, Myka and Pete with the rest of the stash.

The cap’s feathery end sways as if blown by an invisible breeze, pointing in the direction of an enemy. Will move back and forth stronger the more powerful the target is. Becomes rigid when detecting an opponent they’ve already tussled with.
Blocks off any exits for the rivals to force them into direct conflict. Causes obstacles to separate their immediate surroundings from help, such as locking rooms or collapsing the ground into seclusion. Also entices allies to flee from helping by generating feelings of cowardice, anxiety or indifference. Will continue until one side is crippled or forced to withdraw to survive.
