An ancient Egyptian Soul artifact.
Origin[]
According to the Ancient Egyptians, the human soul was composed of a multitude of parts. The Ba, or bꜣ, is the personality of the soul, and was believed to continue existing as a physical entity after the death of the original body. This entity would look over their former body, visit beloved places of their former life, and meet gods.
The Ba was also believed to be a courier of the Ka, another aspect of the soul, which needed the sustenance of offerings to the dead to sustain itself in the afterlife. The mobility of the Ba was instrumental in this exchange.
Effects[]
While making contact with the statuette, this artifact visualizes the "purity" of a person's soul as a spectrum of light emitting from the user, ranging in brilliance by the "purity" of the individual. Largely only diagnostic, the artifact could theoretically also be used to manipulate the soul and heal a broken spirit. However, knowledge of their own soul to that extent may drive the user insane.
Collection[]
Collected by Aden Taylor while hunting for another artifact that had brought someone back to life. He made contact with the accompanying Ba artifact and accidentally activated it, revealing his almost completely pure soul. He promptly purchased and bagged the whole set.
