The Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit (BACCCU) was started by New Yorker Michael Christenson in 1986 as a way of boosting the morale of patients. This started, but by no means invented the idea of, Clown Care units worldwide. Through various comedy and magic acts, it has been found that many patients, old and young, are uplifted by the atmosphere, and a positive psychological effect may even help aid recovery. It was though this act of good will that the artifact was born

When the horn is directed at an individual and honked, any infections, poisons or other ailments including cancer and even broken bones are absorbed into the horn, leaving the individual healthy and in full physical condition. However the horn must be emtied after each consecutive use, and may only do so by infecting another organism.
It can hold only one disease or ailment at a time, so a person suffering from multiple problems may find only the most pressing one dealt with in this manner. Further, it seems each person can only be cured once unless the horn is used to give them an illness. Following the curing of the given disease, the horn will work on them again. It can not, however, remove an ailment that it has given to a person.
