Origin

Augustin-Jean Fresnel

Type

Magnifying Glass

Effects

Once exposed to any source of light, the lens instantaneously focuses the light energy into one point.

Downsides

OriginEdit

Augustin-Jean Fresnel, was a French engineer and physicist who contributed significantly to the establishment of the theory of wave optics. Fresnel studied the behavior of light both theoretically and experimentally.

He is perhaps best known as the inventor of the Fresnel lens, first adopted in lighthouses while he was a French commissioner of lighthouses, and found in many applications today.

This magnifying glass was made through Fresnel's own design to test his theories on wave optics, which made the glasses lens work a little too well. Thus making the magnifying glass into an artifact.

EffectsEdit

Once exposed to any source of light, the lens instantaneously focuses the light energy into one point destroying anything in its way until the light is unfocused. If the light is exposed into the lens for a long period, the lens start to devlop their own source of light.

UsageEdit

  • Artie used this artifact to destroy the ceiling hatch of Warehouse 2 after uncovering it with the Reverse Pepper Mill in the episode "Buried".
