Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged is a 1957 novel depicting a dystopian United States, where many of society's most prominent and successful industrialists abandon their fortunes and even the nation. Instead of a Congress and a President there's not a 'National Legislature' and 'Head of State' respectfully. The main character, Dagny Taggart, who is Vice President of a company that remained behind in order to try to keep the company in tact in this new world. The story continues as she faces the trials and tribulations of trying to survive while all other companies fold so their owners can leave. In the end herself, an activist named John Galt and a few others hack into a national radio broadcast to deliver a speech about a strike where business leaders, who left the country to rebuild outside the country were returning to move against the government. As the government collapses, the authorities capture Dagny and her conspirators only to be rescued when New York City loses electricity and anarchy reigns.
