OriginEdit

Ashurbanipal (668 BC - 627 BC) was an Assyrian king, the last strong king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. He is famed for amassing a significant collection of cuneiform documents, documents written on clay slabs, for his royal palace. This collection, known as the Library of Ashurbanipal, is now housed at the British Museum. Proud of his scribal education he made it a point to learn several languages so that he could read all documents he could locate.
