Originally used by Kaufman when immersed into his anti-character, Tony Clifton, a very un-likeable singer that constantly abused his audience. His characteristics were apart of many elaborate hoaxes and practical jokes, something that Kaufman thoroughly enjoyed to do with his audience. These sunglasses were imbued with Kaufman's ability to create such hoaxes, giving them the power to influence and lie to people without them knowing.
