History

The Amazon river flows through South America and is considered one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world. The origin of the artifact is unknown, but it was found in the possession of an ecologist who had been studying the area.

This artifact was seen in the background in several scenes of the season 2 episode "13.1"

Effects

The tank has a passive, but fascinating effect. Though the outside of the tank is solid glass, the inside seens to be a sort of spacial wormhole that leads directly into the Amazon river, as if a slice of space was cut out and placed in the tank. Anything that swims or floats into the space, which has been located and hidden in the Amazon to prevent security breaches, appears in the tank as if nothing were amiss. This can range from fish swimming past to the belly of a caiman that just skimmed across the surface. The connection is two-way, and anything dropped in the tank appears in the relevant location in the river. The lid of the tank is tightly sealed to prevent anything escaping and is is placed on a secure shelf.

Agents aren't sure what would happen if the tank should break, and are not willing to take the risk in finding out.
