Origin[]
Amanda Michelle Todd (1996 – 2012) killed herself at the age of 15 at her home in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. Prior to her death, Todd had posted a video on YouTube in which she used a series of flashcards to tell her experience of being cyber bullied and physically assaulted. Her video went viral after she was found dead resulting in international media attention having more than 19 million views as of June 2016. This started the discussion on criminalizing cyberbullying throughout the world including more funding and support for anti-bully organizations.
Effects[]
Reading makes victim extremely sad, inspires acts of heroism. Especially when it comes to witnessing people being bullied. For a week after reading the flashcards affected is more likely to step in and stop bullies.
