Altansarnai Tsagaanbaatar (1220-1278) was a Regent who served during the time of Warehouse 7 and for the first three years of Warehouse 8. She was most notable for her extensive gathering of artifacts from the Chinese.

Before the Warehouse[]

Altansarnai became an "adult" at the age of 13 in her region. She wished to serve in the navy, but felt her gender might not grant her the respect she wanted. In order to serve and obtain the respect she wished to have, she disguised herself as a male. Her skills in the navy allowed her to quickly rise through the ranks until she was a Captain of a ship at the age of 16. By the age of 20, she commanded several vessels.

Warehouse Life[]

She was recruited to the Warehouse at the young age of twenty in 1240.

Because of her Chinese heritage and standing as a superb naval officer, Altansarnai was able to traverse much of China without trouble, allowing her to collect hundreds of artifacts from across the country. Because of her standing, she was allowed to have a civil servant, a young man named Cao Fang.

Retirement[]

Altansarnai retired from the position of Regent in 1263 to spend more time with her family and help them settle. She had found a suitable replacement for her while travelling through China: her civil servant, Cao Fang, came with her when the Warehouse moved to the Holy Roman Empire in 1260. Over the next three years, she trained him to be a Regent. Even after her retirement, they maintained a friendship which lasted up until her death.

Legacy[]

Altansarnai has retrieved the highest number of artifacts of Chinese origin of any Warehouse-related personnel of all time (553 total, collected over twenty years).

  • The next highest, for comparison, is Agent Greg Maverick of Warehouse 13 (Agent from 1923-1932), who collected 76 artifacts of Chinese origin in eight years.
