Origin
Alphart, a young hero in the army of Theoderic the Great, fought alongside of him in the Battle of Ravenna. He went out after a pair of Theoderic's men who abandoned to the enemy army. After battling both men on his own he managed to kill one and let the other, Witege, survive. As Witege departed he returned and drove a dagger into his upper collar, missing his hauberk and killing him. Tales declare that even with the blade in his back Alphart turned and slayed Witege. Another variant has Alphart killing Witege with the same blade that killed himself.
A hauberk is a shirt of mail. The term is usually used to describe a shirt reaching at least to mid-thigh and including sleeves.
Effects
Grants skill in sword fighting, especially in tight quarters or extreme close contact. Will tighten until painful if wearer fights dirty. If further fighting with ill intent continues the hauberk will kill the wearer by constriction.
