Origins[]
Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi was an Arab physician who lived in Al-Andalus, Moorish occupied medieval Portugal and Spain. He is thought of the great surgeon from the Islamic World and possibly the father of modern surgical procedures. He contributed an encyclopedia of medical knowledge to both the East and West of his time. He was the first to discover an ectopic pregnancy, where the baby grows and develops outside of the womb but still inside the body. Qasim was also the first to explain that haemophilia was genetic. He used opium and mandrake as his version of an anesthetic.
Effects[]
The leather bellows were what al-Qasim used to stoke his opium fires. Puffing it at someone releases a small cloud of opium gas that quickly intoxicates them. They become unable to stand and balance properly, dizzy and nauseated. Other side effects that vary from person to person.
