Plot[]
The novel is a comedy that sees 6th-Century England and its medieval culture through Hank Morgan's view. Morgan is a 19th century resident of Hartford, Connecticut who, after a blow to the head, awakens to find himself transported back in time to early medieval England where he meets King Arthur himself. Hank had a painted view of medieval England done by years of romantic myths and other sources from his time. Instead of believing he is insane Hank takes it upon himself to try to modernize, Americanize and improve the lives of the people. Over time his knowledge of the future and ability to create things that no one else knows of, such as bicycles, a lasso even a revolver. When Hank is mortally wounded he his put under a 'spell' by Merlin putting him in a coma for 1300 years, or back into the future where Hank was originally from.
