Origin

Alan John "A. J." Hackett is a New Zealand entreprenuer who modernized and popularized the pseudo-sport of bungee jumping. He was inspired by the coming of age ritual of the Vanuatian people and developed a stronger elastic cord to replace the simple vines they used. He demonstrated his invention in 1987 by safely bungee-jumping from the Eiffel Tower.

Effects

When the cord is stretched, it triples the elasticity and potential kinetic energy stored, catapulting anything attatched to it with extreme force. When used vertically, participants are launched back into the air and may continue bouncing for several minutes. It can also be used as an effective long range catapult when stretched horizontally.
