Origin[]

The 9th Parachute Chasseur Regiment was created on 1 June 1956 in Algeria from the 4th Battalion, 18th RIPC and receives its standard from General Sauvagnac in Batna on 11 November. It becomes part of the 25th Parachute Division and was mostly based on the Algerian-Tunisian border. The most notable action took place in April 1958 at Souk Ahras where the sacrifice of the regiments 3rd Company permits the elimination of a large FLN group that was trying to break the Morice Line to reinforce the FLN forces in Algeria.

The regiment didn’t take part in the 1961 Algiers putsch and after the end of the Algerian War it moved to Toulouse on mainland France. The regiment takes part in operations within the UNIFIL in Lebanon and other overseas operations. The regiment was dissolved in 1999 as a part of a restructuring of the French Army.

Effects[]

When the wearer jumps off of a high area, the artifact activates. A parachute "forms" above the user, which slows their fall. After landing, the user will speak French and move slowly as if dragging the parachute behind them for several hours.

Collection[]

Mr. Stall found the pin at a farmer's market from a vendor who sold "antique's". Artie was able to figure out the ability of the pin and Mr. Stall decided to keep the pin on his person, placing it on the inside of his coat. He had tested it once before, and found out he only spoke French after he landed, which he felt was a decent trade off for using it.

Right now the Pin can be found in the Personal Effects Storage if not being used. But when Mr. Kipling does not use this artifact anymore, it will return to its shelf and aisle in the Warehouse.
